1973 Volkswagen Type 2 Bay Window Bus — restored, turn-key driver with NC title. Replacement 1800 engine with dual carbs installed in 2018, approximately 26k miles since. Mechanically strong, cosmetically clean, lowered for more stable highway cruising, typically cruises around 65 mph. Tires and front calipers replaced in 2025, muffler replaced in 2026, professional nano-ceramic tint recently redone. Roof rack, blackout curtains, camping setup, mechanical records, and large spare-parts library included. Minor rust consistent with age is shown clearly in photos. Located in Wilmington, NC. $36,500 OBO.

Roof rack is included. Currently waiting on 3rd coat of stain for new wood for roof rack (cedar with cabot semi transparent redwood stain).
Have some mechanical records; happy to talk through as there has been a lot of work done last 9 years.
Tires are 2025. New calipers 2025. Professional tint was just redone (nano-ceramic). Windows are tinted; but, there are also blackout curtains for camping. New muffler 2026. Rebuilt new engine and duel carbs were installed 2018 by Darrel of Silverlake Auto out in Burgaw (retired).
Did a big two month road trip September and October 2025. For most of August, the bus was with Hail Vintage Auto preparing for the big road trip tuning up, rebuilding carbs, and making sure everything was as good as can be. Then just did the month of April cross country as well.
Typically 65 mph on highway - could go faster if needed; but that’s typically a good cruising speed. Being lowered prevents the updraft of air on stock height hence making long drives nicer. You will also notice the back wheels turned and angled - that is for stability on faster turns (this bus had a prior life of racing over a decade ago but has been engine replaced).
